Marina Puesta del Sol provides a wide range of services and support facilities for our guests to stay and enjoy this beautiful little spot of the world in comfort and style. We are constantly striving to improve and enhance our facility and service through a commitment to excellence. Our friendly and attentive staff is here to help you with anything...from handling your docklines to easy, on-site customs, immigration and port authority clearance.
You’ll know you’re on course when you see the distinctive profile of the volcano, San Cristobal (on some charts named Vulcan Viejo). Now prepare yourself for a beautiful, and safe landfall leading to Marina Puesta del Sol. The entrance and channel are well marked and can be entered safely even at night. The deep water channel leading to the marina can accommodate boats with drafts up to eight feet, even at low, low water. At medium water, boats drawing up to thirteen feet can enter safely.
As you enter the river and lagoon called El Estero de Aserradores, a beautiful hanging beach on the south side comes into view. To the north, a more extensive white sand beach extends thousands of yards. Upon passing these landmarks, you need only follow the well marked channel for 2.5 km. (1.36 nm.) to the docks of Marina Puesta del Sol.
Fuel Facility
Our full service fuel facility provides clean, filtered diesel and gasoline to our easily accessible 110 foot fuel dock. With diesel capacities at 7,000 gallons and gasoline at 2,000 gallons, we provide service not only to water craft, but vehicles as well at our upland service station. The service station will also be stocked with oil, lubricants and other essentials for our cruising visitors.
Docks & Slips
At present, we have twenty 64’slips, two 60’ slips and six 48’slips plus several side ties. Future expansion will double the available berths. The floating dock system is constructed using pressure treated Nicaraguan pine, roto-molded, watertight floats, and heavy duty hardware, creating a strong, sturdy structure. The structure raises and lowers on piles during average tides of 7 – 8 feet in the protected harbor. Each slip is provided with a lighted dock box, water service, cable TV, and 120V/30 amp and 208V/50 amp single and three-phase power service. The dock structure also features a high efficiency fire protection system and heavy duty cleats for secure tie-ups.
Pump-Out Station
For added convenience, we employ a mobile, 62 gallon pump-out unit that can be rolled right up to your boat for quick and clean servicing.
Customs, Immigration & Port Authority
As a Nicaraguan Government designated Port of Entry, we can quickly and painlessly process immigration procedures on sight – no driving to town to find the elusive official as can be the case in other marinas. Fees (U.S.D.) for visiting vessels are as follows: Entrance-$15.00, Exit -$15.00, Tourist Card (90 days, per person) $5.00, zarpe $15.00, and $2.00 per person for processing the visa. Please be sure you have your zarpe from previously visited countries prior to making port.
Communication & e-mail service
Visit our Harbor Master House for access to your e-mails. We also have long distance international phone service available for a fee.
Boat Launch Ramp
Conveniently located next to the Harbor Master House, the long, low-angle ramp provides easy access for boat/trailer to the lagoon and estuary.
Mooring Buoys With five 24” diameter mooring buoys installed and ten more on the way, tying up to our strategically placed buoys in the protected marina basin is as easy as ever.
Transportation Service
Local bus service is available for trips to nearby towns of El Viejo and Chinandega for shopping, provisioning, and sightseeing. The early bus departs from the marina at 5 AM and leaves Chinandega at 12:30 PM for the return trip. The second bus departs the marina at 7:45 AM and the return trip to the marina leaves El Viejo at 3 PM. We also provide scheduled shuttle service aboard our own 12 passenger “micro” bus from the marina/resort to Chinandega for a modest fee. Taxis and rental cars are available in Chinandega.
Security Our trained and uniformed 21-person security team provides round-the-clock surveillance of the grounds and dock areas. Entrances and exits to the grounds are also monitored.
